A volunteer board governs WWFHC and has community members, non-profit leaders and health care representatives. The board is made up of a majority (at least 51%) of WWFHC users, which keeps the voice of our patients strong in our leadership.

Western Wayne Family Health Centers is a training site for many health care professionals. We often work with students at the end of their formal educational programs to be Nurse Practitioners, medical assistants, medical billers and social workers.
WWFHC is also very proud to be part of a very innovative graduate medical education program that trains medical school graduate physicians as medical residents at our facilities. Authority Health places resident physicians at our centers with our Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, OB/GYN and Family Practice providers. They spend their residency years based at community health centers, with hospital and other rotations mixed in. This new way of training allows for them to graduate and be ready to serve as physicians who work with patients in underserved areas to practice primary care medicine. This will help reduce the shortage of doctors who want to practice in community health centers like WWFHC. Our residents are learning from the best, and work with their attending physicians (experienced doctors) to give you and your family the best care.
WWFHC is open Monday through Friday, and we have appointment times throughout the day—including early morning and early evening. Call us and make an appointment. We often can give you a “same day” medical appointment—especially if you contact us early in the day. Walk in medical appointments are also possible, although not guaranteed. WWFHC wants to get you in to see one of our great providers as soon as we can and will do our best to help you.
Dental appointments need to be made in advance—but we do have walk in emergency dental appointments on certain days of the week. Call us for details. Dental services are at all of our sites.
Appointments for obstetrical care also need to be made ahead of time—especially if it is the first appointment for your prenatal care. Call as soon as you find out you are pregnant—or even come in while you are trying to get pregnant–for a visit. Early care is best for you and your baby. We do OB care and general women’s health care (gynecology) at all three locations.
For emergencies, you should go to the nearest emergency room for care. If you are having a health issue that is not an emergency, and are one of our patients, you can call and talk to one of the nurses during clinic hours. In urgent situations after hours, our patients can call the center number and be connected with our answering service. They will contact the provider on-call for you.
